Birds Of North America

We are working collectively…to better understand our connections…to life on earth. These species pair for at least the length of the breeding season or—in some cases—for several years or until the dying of 1 mate. Monogamy permits for each paternal care and biparental care, which is particularly essential for species during which females require males’ help for successful brood-rearing. Among many socially monogamous species, extra-pair copulation is frequent.
