Rabbits and hares usually tend to go under a fence than over it. Anther choice is to create a 1-foot broad wire apron on prime of the ground on the animal side of the fence. Be sure to secure the apron firmly with stakes (Fig. 6). In areas lined with snow, younger crops may be clipped off at snow peak, and the sleek, skinny bark of timber and shrubs may be utterly girdled.
